SSL Details

Starting June 18th 2017, Rizon servers will be transitioning to Let's Encrypt certificates.

This should not require any change in client settings (unless you have pinned our previous certificate — if you don't know what this means, you definitely have not done it, so nothing to worry about).

(Note: You may still receive the old certificate listed below for a few weeks while we transition.)

Technical Reasoning

We believe this to be a security improvement for our users, as the certificates

  1. expire faster (reducing the amount of time a stolen certificate could be used by an attacker),
  2. are per-server (so an attacker who has server X's key wouldn't be able to decrypt traffic encrypted to server Y's certificate), and
  3. are much easier to rotate.
