Welcome to LunarBNC

About

In September 2016 Casper found out about the LunarIRC Network.
Here he found a nice place and decided to link a server of his own to this network.
That was the start of what became a nice journey within that network.
Eventually he decided to link more servers and rebrand the IRC.tools BNC service to LunarBNC.
This is how LunarBNC was created, on November 4th 2016.
IRC.tools was founded around August of 2014

Request

In order to request for a LunarBNC, please click here.

  • All input boxes must be filled for this button to become active!
  • If you're looking for a custom rDNS/vHost, please take a look at the vHost/RDNS page.

vHost/rDNS

LunarBNC can provide custom vHosts/RDNSes for the following domains:
.hidden.network
.<yourown.domain.tld>

You can choose what to put in front of these domains (within reason of course).
For example: lurking.through.the.hidden.network.

Each host can only be used once, which means that certain hosts might be not available as they are already in use!
The cost to use any of these vhosts (including using your own domain) will be €1/month or €6/year.

€1/month PayPal or €6/year PayPal

  • If you want to use your own domain, make sure you have access to the DNS records and that it can handle AAAA(IPv6) records

Abuse

All LunarBNC connections will be IPv6 with the subnet 2001:470:7857::/48.
IPv4 is not used by clients (only by admins, in case IPv6 is not available).

If you want to ban or g-line a LunarBNC user, you can do that in the form of *!*@host. LunarBNC does not answer to identd requests, because users can be identified by their host. Users are also able to change their own identd, which is another reason to ban by *!*@host.

User IDs can be found if you look at the IP address they connect with, this will be 2001:470:7857:UserID::f.
Users cannot change their ID. The IP is unique per account and can not be used by other users.

By default the PTR/rDNS of the user is username.powered.by.lunarbnc.net.
However, LunarBNC allows the use of vhosts if the user has donated. (More on this on the vHost page) The user ID part of the IP address will stay the same, only the final character might change.

  • Any form of abuse can be reported by sending an email to abuse@lunarbnc.net, or you can report it on irc.lunarirc.net on channel #LunarBNC

FAQ

Do you provide custom vHost/DNS?

Yes, we do! Please check out the vhost page.

I forgot my password

Please send an email to contact@lunarbnc.net and ask for a password reset, or provide a password you want to be set.
Make sure to provide your username and send the email from the account that you registered with to verify that you are the owner.

My network requires me to use SASL! Is this possible with LunarBNC?

This surely is possible! When you are connected to LunarBNC type the following commands:

  • /msg *sasl mechanism plain
  • /msg *sasl set YourNickServName YourNickServPassword

Invalid Password

If you IRC Client is showing "Invalid Password", make sure to enter the correct password in the format of: <username>/<network>:<password> All parts of this format are case-sensitive!

Error * [10053] Software caused connection to abort

This most likely means you are connecting without SSL to a port that only accepts SSL connections (Port 8080 in LunarBNC's case).
Please make sure to connect with SSL (Tick the SSL box, or add a plus sign in front of the port for a lot of IRC clients).
In case you don't have SSL available, you can use port 8181 instead.

Connection Timeout

This most likely means you are connecting on a port that is not in use on LunarBNC. Some clients by default try to connect to port 6667, but LunarBNC does not use this port. LunarBNC only uses port 8080 (SSL) and 8181 (Non-SSL).

I want to change my nick/altnick/ident/realname

Please login on [1] with your username and password and go to "YourSettings" in the navigation sidebar.
Here you can change several things regarding to your account.
